I’m very pleased w/ the price/value proposition of this wall safe. It provides easy bedside access when mounted in a closet. Although it is rated as a safe in California, for me personally, I like my safes to be a little more ‘bullet proof’. So I use this product as a quick access box for the bedroom. It would certainly keep out most determined children, but a teenager would eventually get in there w/ a couple of pry bars. When leaving for an extended period of time, I simply remove the firearm and retire it to a sturdier gun safe (AmSec, Fort Knox, etc).

Install was easy. The 14” hole in the sheetrock between the studs required a little buildout on the stud so the safe can be mounted, nothing a spare 2x4 couldn’t handle. I additionally installed 2x4’s on the top and bottom of the hole. Even after setting some additional sheetrock screws, the safe rim easily covered all marks, no putty, no paint required.
